Branches out in June!

Along with the fresh split LP/CD bundle with Rakka (out now on Karkia Mistika Records), we are glad to announce the release of our 10th album on June 2nd! Branches will be released on vinyl, cassette and digital formats on wonderful We Jazz festival/agency’s home label.

We are happy to announce the release of fresh music!

These recordings are the first ones to feature the new Black Motor line-up with Jouni “Tane” Kannisto on reeds, flutes and percussion (also the first ones since the 2013 album “Yöstä aamun kynnykselle”). Recorded during one day with our household engineer Juuso Nordlund, this split LP/CD bundle consists of four tracks from BM and four tracks from Tampere-based fellow group Rakka.

Out on April 15th, the album is released on forward-looking Finnish label Karkia Mistika Records.

Major part of BM’s public appearances are now gathered in chronology and made available in Gigbeans: a collaborative service for collecting information about 21st century Finnish improvised music (and beyond)! Highly recommended.

Black Motor is Dead, Long Live Black Motor!

Black Motor has always been about gifted, open and versatile musical minds coming together and heading into the unknown without fear. After ten years, a new page is turned as drummer Simo Laihonen and bassist Ville Rauhala bid farewell to Sami Sippola and invite Tane Kannisto to join forces with them.

The skilled saxophonist, best known for his work with Edward Vesala’s legendary end-of-the-Millennium line-up Sound & Fury, embarked on his maiden voyage aboard Black Motor already in November 2014. Tane makes his recorded debut with Ville and Simo on new track Interdependence Day released right here, right now.
